When should I bring my child for their first eye exam?
The AOA recommends that all children have their first eye exam in their first year. If your child is over the age of three and has not yet had their eyes examined by an optometrist please call Eye Columbus today so we can schedule their Kids Eye Exam as soon as possible.
My kid had his eyes examined at school. Is that good enough?
No. Chances are a licenced optometrist did not preform an eye exam at your child's school. More than likely they had a vision screening. A vision screening, like one performed at a pediatrician's office, is no substitute for a complete eye exam. Even if your child passes their vision screening, that does not encompass what the health of his eyes might be like.
My child is too young to read. How will she take an eye exam?
GVC's Kids Eye Exam is more than about reading the chart. Our doctors are focused on how well the eyes work together, how the brain and the eyes interact, and the overall health of the eye. All can be done without asking which is better?
Do all eye doctors offer pediatric eye exams?
Although all optometrist and ophthalmologist are trained to be primary eye care specialist, not all doctors offer kids eye exams. Dr. Miller was trained by leaders in the field of Pediatric Optometry at Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, PA. There he gained experience and knowledge in the field of Pediatric Vision Care. Dr. Miller built on his reputation as a Pediatric primary eye care provider while practicing in Reynoldsburg, OH, and has been fortunate to have parents, come from as far as the Middle East, trust their children's eyes to his care.
Does Gahanna Vision Center offer Pediatric Emergency Eye Care?
Kids are going to have eye accidents and red eyes. Don't hesitate to call the office immediately regardless if it is an eye emergency or eye urgency.
My child is prone to pink eye - How long should he miss school for that?
Believe it or not many cases of "pink eye" are not in fact "pink eye". It is often one of the mis-diagnosed, and therefore mis-treated conditions. If you or the school suspects that your child may have pink eye please call Eye Columbus immediately so your child can get the proper treatment and limit his time away from school.
